The Ludwig Thermogloss 3-Ply Maple kit with reinforcement rings. A Maple/Poplar/Maple blend of wood plies with a Cellulose-Nitrate finish that is heated up prior to its spray application, thus giving the "Thermo" moniker.

Debuted(most likely) January 18, 1969 in Detroit Michigan as a 4 piece drum kit with 14" and 18" Toms, a 26" bass drum that is oddly 15" in depth, and the classic LM-402 snare drum that would be a career staple, the kit is expanded upon halfway through 1969 with the addition of a 16" floor tom, cementing the familiar template that would be employed throughout Led Zeppelin's career.

The Thermogloss kit doesn't have any internal muffling system as present(though not employed) on later kits. Additionally, no felt stip has ever been observed on the batterside of the bass drum with this particular kit. The bass drum also features two pairs of telescopic spurs, differing from the classic curved spurs present throughout Green Sparkle to Stainless Steel kits.
